Boy Scout raises money to mark graves

Brody Harrison wants to buy at least 10 headstones for unmarked graves at the State Hospital South Cemetery.

To reach his goal, Harrison is baking his own spudnut donuts and selling them.

There are over 1,000 graves at the cemetery, but fewer than 200 of them are marked.
“You cannot access medical records through the hospital,” Harrison said. “(The hospital) cannot release anything until a gravestone is put. So if (people) need to come find out information about ancestors, they need to come to a cemetery and they can find their birth and death date.”

Harrison is taking advance orders before he plans to distribute his spudnuts on Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Groveland Latter Day Saints Chapel in Blackfoot.

To place an order, call (208)-980-7417 or email doodl.boy98@gmail.com.
