Registration for recreation: State wants your help
Idaho is having trouble keeping up with the 200,000 snowmobiles, boats, ATVs and motorcycles in the state, as each of them must be registered each year. Now the Gem State is asking for your ideas on dealing with this issue.
After a legislative task force failed to come up with a simplified registration process, the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department is turning to the public for ideas.
Right now, those vehicles can be registered through the Idaho Transportation Department, private vendors or the Parks and Recreation Department.
But Eastern Idaho Parks and Recreation Regional Manager Garth Taylor said there is no good system for tracking registrations through the various agencies.
The department is hosting an open house in Idaho Falls on Tuesday to gather recommendations from the owners of these vehicles. It’s from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Department’s regional office at 4279 Commerce Circle, Ste B in Idaho Falls. (That’s next door to the Idaho Fish and Game Regional Office.)
