Possibility floods and storms in eastern Idaho

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for western, central and portions of eastern Idaho until 11 p.m. Thursday. The potential for severe storms exists through the evening hours, thanks to moisture wrapping around a large upper level low over the northwest.

A tornado warning in a remote area of Clark County expired at 6:35 p.m.

A weather spotter in the area north of Monteview reported 2 funnel clouds from that storm.

Several Severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings have already been issued today for Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho.

The Flash Flood Watch remains in place until 9pm:

A watch means there is a potential for flooding to occur.The National Weather Service said heavy rainfall is likely to happen in the southern highlands, central mountains, eastern Magic Valley, lower Snake River plain and Caribou highlands.

City leaders in Pocatello are preparing for the potential heavy rain and have set up a sandbag distribution sit at the Pine Ridge Mall – 4155 Yellowstone Avenue

They said you will need a shovel to fill the sandbags and fill a couple extra to help others who cannot.

The NWS told the Pocatello Fire Department the best chance of rain is from noon to 6 p.m.

Pocatello city officials is asking citizens to turn off automatic sprinkler systems to help reduce run off and help prevent flooding.
