Blackfoot boy dies after being hit by car

A 4-year-old Blackfoot boy was killed Saturday when he was struck by a car at Snake River High School.

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland said Connor Covington, the son of Christopher and Cindy Covington of Blackfoot, may have run out from behind another car and into the path of a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Melissa Polatis, also of Blackfoot. Rowland said Polatis was turning around to back out of the area.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday on the south side of the football field at Snake River High School.

Although investigation is continuing, at this time Rowland describes what happened as a “tragic accident.”
