Idaho Falls man leads officers on chase

Idaho State Police said an Idaho Falls man led them on a chase Monday.

Around 1:30 p.m., troopers located the 1997 Ford Expedition of Floyd Long, 44, on Interstate 15 north of Idaho Falls.

A welfare check issued earlier by Jefferson County, and troopers tried to pull him over.

Long refused to stop when they activated their emergency lights and sirens.

Officers then laid spikes on the roadway.

Long struck the spikes and drove off the right shoulder, through an Idaho Transportation Department fence, where the vehicle became stuck on a ditch bank. Long was taken in to custody.

ISP was helped by Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho Falls EMS.
