Woman arrested on DUI, vandalism charges

A Fort Hall woman was jail after taking a bat to a man’s car while she was drunk, police said.

The incident started on the 800 block of Hubbard in Pocatello.

A man heard a pop, then saw Maribelle Lopez, 18, with a bat. One of his cars had a broken window.

Lopez jumped into a waiting car, ran it into the man’s car, then backed up and hit the man’s wife, police said. The wife was pushed through a fence before Lopez took off.

The man jumped into a truck he owned and followed.

Lopez headed toward Alameda and McKinley, where she ran a red light and hit another car. Police said that didn’t stop her, as she then backed up and hit the man’s truck.

Police stopped Lopez at 800 West Eldridge.

Lopez was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI, felony leaving the scene of an injury accident and principle to vandalism. She was cited with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and having no proof of insurance.

Her blood alcohol level was .15

Police said she had passengers in the car with her. One of them was arrested on a Bannock County warrant and was charged with two counts of malicious injury to property.
