Wyo. wildlife officials propose boating restrictions

The Wyoming Game and Fish department wants public input on some proposed boating restrictions.

The proposal aims to eliminate watercraft on the Snake River from the Grand Teton National Park boundary to the South Park bridge. It would also impose a 115-horsepower maximum for all watercraft from the bridge to West Table.

Game and Fish supervisors say the restrictions would make things safer for boaters.
“The area above the South Park bridge is more of a braided river, so the channels are tighter and the line of sight is a lot less,” said Rob Gipson, the regional fishery supervisor.

The department commission will meet to discuss the proposal on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Virginian Lodge in Jackson. The public is encouraged to attend and share comments.
