Biologist hurt in freak accident

An Idaho Fish and Game Department biologist suffered a head injury Monday while tracking a herd of big horn sheep.

Idaho Fish and Game Department spokesman Gregg Losinski said the biologist was attempting to recover radio collars.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Edwards said one of the sheep kicked a rock off the mountain, which struck the researcher on the head. It happened about four miles above the Palisades Campground.

The biologist called for help and began walking out of the area, when he was found by emergency workers from the sheriff’s office, Fish and Game, the Swan Valley Quick Response Unit, and Bonneville County Search and Rescue.
