Cable ONE loses various channels

Cable ONE has dropped CNN and other channels from its lineup.

In an email sent to viewers Tuesday, the cable company said a deal with Turner Network fell through. Other channels being dropped are Turner Classic Movies, CNN En Espaol, HLN, truTV and Boomerang.

Later Tuesday, Cable ONE posted a statement in place of the nonfunctioning channels, saying TBS, TNT and the Cartoon Network were also removed due to Turner’s “retaliation for us dropping their less popular programming.”

Cable ONE said customers will be credited for the time the channels are missing. The credit will be automatically applied to customers’ next bills.

The cable company said Turner had raised its prices.

“We have made every effort to reach an equitable deal with Turner,” Cable ONE said. “However, they have demanded an increase of nearly 50 percent for channels with steadily declining ratings. Turner has refused our counter proposal to pay a fee that is more than fair for these channels.”

“We want to thank you for your understanding while we continue to negotiate with Turner to reach an agreement that is fair for everyone,” Cable ONE told customers.
