Blackfoot woman dies in I-15 crash

A Blackfoot woman died in a crash on Interstate 15 north of Fort Hall Casino early Wednesday.

Around 3:15 a.m., Dorothy D. Harris, 26, was traveling northbound on the interstate in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am when she drove off the left shoulder of the road and into the median. Idaho State Police said Harris drove back onto the roadway and overcorrected causing the car to slide into the median, where it overturned and rolled. It came to rest in the southbound lanes.

ISP said Harris was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the car. She died of her injuries. Her son, a toddler, was also in the car. He was in an approved child safety seat, was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.

Southbound lanes were blocked for about three hours.
