Local band prepares for Pink Floyd shows in Idaho Falls
After a successful show last year, a local band is getting ready for another weekend of shows dedicated to Pink Floyd.
The band A Few More Bricks is set to play their shows “Echoes of Pink Floyd” Oct. 11 and 12 at the Colonial Theater. But, why Pink Floyd? Kevin Young said the rock band is timeless.
“I mean, it cuts across all genres — rock, jazz, blues and you hear it on the radio still,” said Young.
A Few More Bricks is made up of a unique crowd. Liatt Potter sings in the band and is in the music business exclusively. The rest of the group is a wide array of people.
“They’re musicians from all different bands and different jobs, and I’ll tell you what, it’s really a great group of people,” said Potter.
A Few More Bricks began as an idea two years ago, but now they’re preparing for their second set of shows.
“Last year we never knew what was going to happen, and when we ended up having over 800 people in the audience it was just perfect,” said Young.
Tickets are required for the shows, but the money goes towards the lasers and equipment for production.
“We really aren’t in it to make money, by any means,” said Young. “We’re looking to break even, hopefully. The whole thing is to provide a unique musical opportunity for Eastern Idaho.”
The first show, Oct. 11, will have a new addition. Choir members from Eagle Rock Junior High will join A Few More Bricks for the popular song “Another Brick in the Wall.” Rob Spence, the guitarist, said adding the children gives the show more authenticity.
“Because kids are singing it, it really brings relevance to actually have the kids themselves doing the music,” said Spence. “It’s a chance of a lifetime for the kids.”
