Fort Hall man killed in crash

A Fort Hall man was killed late Monday night in an accident on U.S. 91.

Fort Hall police got a call of a reckless driver traveling on the highway at a high speed, but the driver hit another vehicle head on before police could find him.

Idaho State Police identified the reckless driver as Jody Underwood, 39. They said Underwood collided with the car of Richard “Tazzy” Peyope around 9:45 p.m.

Peyope was pronounced dead at the crash.

Underwood was taken by helicopter to Portneuf Medical Center and later to the University of Utah Medical Center.A tribal spokeswoman said Underwood was in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Hall police are investigating the crash.
