Man accused of killing child appears in court
The case of a man accused of killing a toddler will go to trial.
Antonio Bautista appeared at the Bonneville County Courthouse on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. He is charged with first-degree murder.
Idaho Falls police began investigating the death of 16-month-old Esmiie Quezada in December after the child was found unresponsive at a residence in the 500 block of West Shelley. She later died at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
In court Wednesday, attorneys questioned a doctor over the cause of Esmiie’s death. She said the girl died of a skull fracture caused by blunt force trauma.
Bautista was the boyfriend of Esmiie’s mother.
