No furloughs at Idaho DOE site

Workers from the Department of Energy’s Idaho site will not be furloughed.

This includes about 2,600 Battelle Energy Alliance workers.

“With the president’s signature late last night, this means that Battelle Energy Alliance employees working at INLcan avoid implementing the work curtailment that was scheduled to begin by the close of business today,” said Idaho National Laboratory spokesperson Amy Lientz on Thursday. ” Our BEA employees have been incredibly patient and understanding. It is good to know that that we can go back to doing what we do best – science and engineering in support of U.S. energy security, national and homeland security.”

Other contractors will also not be seeing furloughs.

” Employees working for the Idaho Treatment Group (ITG), and CH2M-WG Idaho (CWI) have been informed that they should continue to report to work at their normal schedule,” t he U.S. Department of Energy said in an email to Local News 8.

In a memo to employees, CWI president and CEO Tom Dieter expressed his appreciation to employees during the 16-day partial shutdown of the federal government.

” I appreciate your support during these times of uncertainty, and I’m excited to keep everyone working!” said Dieter.
