Wanted man arrested after running away from police

A man who tried to hide from police Wednesday afternoon was arrested while trying to break into a residence, according to Idaho Falls Police.

Jeremy O. Johnson, 26, was wanted for outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants when police received information he was seen in the area of South Eastern Avenue.

Police identified Johnson who ran away from officers. After searching the neighborhood for a couple of hours, Johnson was spotted attempting to enter a house in the 200 block of North Water.

While being taken into custody, Johnson had a gun in his possession. One officer was injured in the process of arresting him.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, battery on a peace officer and obstructing and resisting arrest. The stolen property arrest stems from a case involving a stolen car.
