Felicia Nelson: Distinguished Student

Athlete, musician and peacemaker are three words that describe Sugar-Salem senior and United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student award winner, Felicia Nelson.

Felicia has several talents, including playing the cello in several music groups.

“It’s really fun to be involved in musical groups because you get to be around different personalities and different challenges and things you get to work on, like when you have a difficult piece and you wonder if you can do it, but you practice and you’re able to perform it the best you can,” Felicia says.

Counselor Fred Wooley listed peacemaker as one of Felcia’s special qualities on the nomination form.

“Peace and harmony is important to me because I do not do well when I’m angry or upset and I don’t like seeing other people angry or upset or sad, so if there’s a problem I try to fix things because it makes them feel better, and I know I’ll feel better, so it’s better all the way around,” Felicia says.

Felicia has a practically perfect GPA – 3.94. She finds herself driven to excel academically.

“If I know I can better or if I expect a certain grade then I work hard to get that and if I don’t get that I’m harder on myself, because I know I didn’t do my best, so I want to strive to always do my best,” Felicia says.

Felicia was excited about going to state in Volleyball. It’s been a great experience to be on the team.

“It’s such a unity with all the girls, and it’s something you can’t feel unless you’re on the court.- all around you look out for each other and love each other and have fun and play together,” Felicia says.

Felicia was injured last year and was so impressed with her physical therapy experience she decided that’s what she wants to go into. But when she has time she’ll keep playing her cello.
