“Raising Kids to Do Hard Things” seminar teaches parents

A national author and speaker was in Ammon Friday night. Gregg Harris is known most in the Christian circles. He is here to share a two-day high-impact parenting seminar entitled, “Raising Kids To do Hard Things.”

Eyewitness News anchor Todd Kunz asked him right before Friday’s event, what is the biggest mistake parents make in society today?

“We are allowing our expectations toward our kids to drop, and then they drop to meet those low expectations. So raising kids to do hard things is really just presenting to them to the challenge and the excitement of being able to do something that matters, something that’s not easy and that stretches them and forces them to grow, forces them to work with other people, other kids. And at the end of it all, it gives them the self confidence that they really can make a difference in the world,” said Harris.

The seminar is hosted by Christ Community Church, but is an interfaith collaboration to help parents in today’s fast-paced world.

If you missed the presentation Friday night, you can still attend Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center inside Hillcrest High School in Ammon. It is free and there is no obligation to buy anything.
