IF Ski Club Puts On Sale

Why not start the winter with a little more than reindeer games? If you’re on a tight budget, you may want to hit up the annual ski sale put on by the Idaho Falls Ski Club and the Kelly Club Ski Team.

From snowboards to skis, they have it all. If you have no idea where to start, they have people like Lennia Machen for that, too.

“You find not only good deals on equipment, but advice on what to buy and what may be the right size and ability levels,” said Machen.

These people aren’t paid employees; they’re all volunteers who are just as excited about the outdoors as their customers.

“I myself have enjoyed skiing my whole life, and my kids have enjoyed it. I think its great to give this advantage to kids who are coming now and would like to start this lifetime recreation,” she said.

Machen said the sale is more than just a deal for winter adventurists. She said it’s all for a good cause.

“The proceeds support kids going to ski and going to racing, also adults that would like to ski and be able to have a chance to buy great equipment for a discounted price,” she said.

Many wonder why the equipment is discounted, if there is an opportunity to raise more money for the ski team. Machen said it’s better to let everyone get something out of the sale.

“We’re subsidizing to make sure we’re going to have a whole new generation of skiers coming,” she said.

The sale started Friday from 6-11 p.m., Saturday from 9-6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
