Traffic stops yield more than 50 pounds of pot in Power County
Police have seized more than 50 pounds of marijuana in two traffic stops in Power County.
On Monday just before 9 a.m., Idaho State Police and a Blackfoot city K9 unit conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 86 near American Falls in Power County. The driver, Danny Goddard, 37, of Valley Springs, Calif., was traveling east when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. His passenger was Richard Royal, 38, of Linden, Calif.
Police found and seized 38.7 pounds of marijuana during the stop, as well as $1,000, ISP said.
Goddard and Royal were arrested on charges of trafficking a controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana and were booked into the Power County Jail.
A day earlier, a Pocatello man was arrested after police found nearly 14 pounds of marijuana in his pickup.
Around noon Sunday, ISP pulled over a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east on I-86 near American Falls for a traffic violation.
Driving the pickup was Mario Rodriguez, 22. He was arrested after troopers found and seized nearly 13.89 pounds of marijuana. Authorities also found and seized $736.
Rodriguez was booked into the Power County Jail on charges of trafficking a controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana.
