Jefferson County prosecutor to pay back fees

Jefferson County Prosecutor Robin Dunn will reimburse the county for all payments made to Dunn Law Offices for its handling of a federal court case for the county.The exact amount was not disclosed.

Dunn and Jefferson County commissioners said they agreed to the action to avoid “even the appearance of impropriety.”

The action came after an Oct. 31 Idaho attorney general’s opinion questioning the way the county has compensated Dunn for civil work in federal court, according to a news release from the county Friday.

Although the attorney general’s opinion does not have the force of law, Jefferson County commissioners said they were modifying past procedures to now require the prosecuting attorney to handle civil cases in federal court without additional compensation.
