Holidays begin with Santa’s Helpers

Thanksgiving is next week, but some are already hearing jingle bells. The annual Santa’s Helpers fundraiser was this Tuesday.

Every year the Bingham County Sheriffs Department along with the Blackfoot Police Department raise money by waiting tables at Rupe’s Burger.
All the tips, that officers collect, go toward a shopping spree for 50 less fortunate kids. In addition, 50 families receive food and gifts on Christmas Eve, specially delivered by an officer.

The county raises around $7,000 from charity events like the one at Rupe’s

People who know of families in need Christmas can refer them to the Southeast Idaho Community Action Agency before Friday.
