New habitat for Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity’s latest project is actually moving into a new building themselves. The Idaho Falls chapter has been working on moving their Re-Store shop down the street.

Re-Store is a home improvement thrift store where Habitat for Humanity can sell donations that cannot be used in their current projects.Re-Store funds the operational budget, so any other monetary donations can go directly to building projects.
Because building homes is the top priority for Habit for Humanity, completing the new shop has taken a longer than expected as volunteers work to finish homes before Christmas.

They also had to rip out and replace part of the roof, but they say it’s all worth it for the new space to come.

“This is more than twice as large as our old spot, so we will be expanding. We have about 9,000 square feet to expand in to. We will have a drive-through donation drop-off area, which will be really helpful as the weather gets bad and we will have a lot more display space,” said Karen Lansing, executive director for Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls area.

Lansing said they are hoping to have the space all ready to use in three to six months.
