New warden sought for Women’s Correctional Center after DUI

Nancy Espeseth, 50, has been relieved of her job as warden of the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center, the Idaho Department of Correction said Friday.

Espeseth was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence during a routine traffic stop in Bingham County on Oct. 12. She is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Judge Ryan Boyer in December.

State Prisons Chief Jeff Zmuda announced that Espeseth would “step out of the warden position” in an email to division staff Oct. 22.

LeeAnn Hamilton was named acting warden until a permanent appointment is announced.

Zmuda said a search for a successor is under way. He also said Espeseth would remain with the organization in another capacity.
