Bonneville holds public meeting for Access Plan

West Sunnyside Road is in for some big changes, but not without the public’s input. Bonneville County, along with Idaho Falls, Ammon, Iona, and Ucon, have come up with a couple of options for the Sunnyside Access Plan.

The county has determined two access plans between the Snake River and Interstate 15. There were originally five options, but the county was able to narrow it down to option two. They then split this option into 2A and 2B. Before they move forward they wanted to give the public a chance to voice their opinions.

Whatever decision the county decides to go with, officials like Idaho Falls City Councilman Michael Lehto said one of these plans is better than no plan.

“We’re mindful of what goes on other roads that weren’t well planned. We have a lot of accesses on 17th Street that don’t work and we’re trying to eliminate those over time, so this kind of planning process is designed to eliminate that future. We don’t want to see traffic not moving smoothly on Sunnyside,” he said.
