Sold: Mrs. Powell’s Has New Owners
The original owners of Mrs. Powell’s in Ammon put the bakery up for sale after they deciding to retire. If someone didn’t buy it, they planned to close the beloved bakery at the end of December.
A local couple saw the news story and decided to purchase the bakery and keep baking the famous cinnamon rolls.
The sale was finalized this week, and Garrett and Brittany Foster are the new owners.
“It just fit us, and we thought it would be a good idea,” said Brittany Foster.
She said she’s always loved being in the kitchen.
“My mom always baked and always let us help her in the kitchen,” said Foster.
Now, as one of the new owners of Mrs. Powell’s, she’ll be spending a lot of time making her favorite treats in one of Ammon’s most coveted kitchens.
“We do a cinnamon wreath,” said Foster.
The Fosters were big fans of the bakery before they knew it was for sale.
“She called me one day and said hey did you see Mrs. Powell’s was for sale, she saw it on the news,” said Garrett Foster.
They called the owners and in a few short weeks, the transaction was finalized.
Loyal customers say they couldn’t be happier the doors to the bakery will stay open.
“I live in St. Anthony so I drive all the way down here for my treats,” said one customer.
Foster said the first week on the job, he’s been hearing stories from customers who weren’t ready to let go of the beloved bakery.
“A gentlemen stopped in yesterday, he had been buying extra rolls and freezing them over the last however many weeks so that he would have a stockpile, anticipating the doors were going to close. So the only thing we want is for everyone to know the doors are going to stay open,” said Foster.
“Just come in and meet us, and know we have Mrs. Powell’s at the best of heart,” said Brittany Foster.
This week, the Fosters are busy filling holiday orders and getting to know their customers.
“It’s been a good business for a long time with a really good reputation, so there’s no plans of changing anything,” said Garrett Foster.
With a new year around the corner, the community of Ammon is comforted to know some things will stay the same.
The Fosters have experience running family-owned businesses. Brittany Foster said her three young boys are excited to learn about this new business and she plans to teach them the importance of hard work and working together as a family to continue making the business successful.
The Fosters said one day they hope to expand to more locations, but their focus is settling in Ammon first.
Mrs. Powell’s is also hiring. And the Fosters will be putting promotions on their Facebook page for specials in the store.
