Day after Christmas popular day for skiing

Christmas may be over, but instead of heading back to work, many decided to extend the holiday spirit for another day by hitting the slopes at Kelly Canyon Ski Resort in Ririe.

75-year-old Clayne Anderson says he’s been coming to Kelly Canyon since 1957. Today was just another of many visits for him.

“I try to come every day for exercise,” Anderson said.

Resort officials say today’s a perfect day to hit the slopes.

“The sun’s shining, the sky’s blue. It’s the day after Christmas and lots of people got Christmas gifts that involved skiing,” said Kelly Canyon owner Cherie Stoddard.

Shannon Greenhalgh says ski passes and equipment were popular gifts at her house. So today she brought the family down to try them out.

“In the winter when you’re stuck inside a lot it seems like you need something to get you out going and skiing is a fantastic way to get yourself and your kids out exercising,” said Greenhalgh.
