Former Bonneville County deputy killed in snowmobile accident

The Bonneville County Sheriffs Office was called to a snowmobile accident late Christmas Eve afternoon.

The accident was about three and a half miles up Birch Creek south of U.S. Highway 26, east of Ririe Reservoir, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said former Bonneville County Sheriff Deputy Brent Deshon was snowmobiling with family.

He hit a hidden gully and was launched about 50 feet into the air before hitting the ground.

After Deshon was thrown from the snowmobile, family and first responders tried to revive him.

He was pronounced dead at the accident site.

The family told us a memorial fund has been set up at Idaho Central Credit Union to help with funeral costs. The fund is under Brent Deshon’s name.
