Franklin County deputy injured in crash

Idaho State Police are investigating a car crash that injured a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy Sunday morning.

Travis Despain, 37, was driving a 2012 Dodge Charger when he went off the road and struck an embankment, according to Idaho State Police.

Despain radioed for help after the crash and was taken to Franklin County Medical Center for his treatment of his injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:47 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of South State St. in Preston. Despain was on duty at the time of the accident.

For unknown reasons, he veered off the road. Idaho State Police did not talk about the extent of his injuries or if he was responding to a call at the time of the accident.
