Jana Jones to run against Tom Luna

A new candidate is in the running for Idaho’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. Dr. Jana Jones, who lost a narrow 2006 race to Tom Luna, announced Tuesday that she will be challenging him again.

Jones said she wants Idaho to have safe schools, great teachers, up to date classrooms and a challenging curriculum. She also said if elected she will do things differently than Luna.

“Number one, I would try to install trust in the office as well in the state department that has really diminished over time. I will also be more transparent in policy making,” she said. Jones is from Idaho Falls and a graduate of Skyline High School. She has 40 years of experience in education.
