Man arrested in Bonneville County burglaries

A man who police said broke into Rush’s Kitchen Supply Company in Idaho Falls was arrested when he allegedly tried to break into homes elsewhere in Bonneville County.

Sheriff’s deputies got a call of a man trying to get into homes on the 7800 block of North Riverfront Drive at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. The homeowner got a vehicle description and license plate number of the 1995 Buick LeSabre. The vehicle was listed as stolen out of Jerome County.

A few minutes later, deputies pulled the car over. The driver, Kurtis W. Lierman, 49, of Idaho Falls, was arrested on a charge of felony possession of stolen property. He also had 8 warrants for his arrest: fail to appear in court, failure to pay fines, two probation violation warrants, failure to appear for a change of plea hearing and three out-of-area warrants.

In addition, he also is facing a burgarly charge after the Idaho Falls Police Department linked Lierman to Sunday’s burglary of Rush’s Kitchen Supply Company. They said Lierman, who is homeless, broke into the business at 345 Lindsay Blvd. on Sunday and took cash and a duffel bag. The sheriff’s office said Lierman has confessed to that burglary.

Deputies said stolen items are being returned.

“We located stolen items from multiple victims inside of the vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “We are in the process of returning some of the property to the owners and locating other owners.”
