Skier injured in avalanche near Jackson

A skier is recovering after being swept off a cliff by a small slab avalanche south of the boundary of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center says three skiers were climbing uphill from the edge of a cliff when they triggered the slide at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday. One of two skiers who were swept over the cliff had to be taken off the mountain by a helicopter.

Authorities have not released the names of the skiers, who were not buried by the slide.

The condition of the skier who was injured has not been released.
