Plea deal possible in Rigby murder case

Defense and prosecuting attorneys will attempt to mediate a plea agreement next week for 23-year-old Emmanuel Jesus Granados.

Granados is charged with first-degree murder for the July 14 shooting death of 22-year-old Fermin Lemus outside a quinceanera party in Rigby.

In addition, a second suspect in that incident appeared for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge Robert Crowley in Rigby on Thursday.

Just after the shots were fired, a different victim was stabbed at the party. As a result of that investigation, Lorenzo Ornelas Jr. was charged with aggravated battery by use of a deadly weapon.

Ornelas was bound to district court to face arraignment before Judge Alan Stephens. A court date is pending.
