Local flower shops busy for Valentine’s Day

Local flower shops were busy Friday trying to keep up with the Valentine’s Day hustle.

The National Retail Federation said nearly 40 percent of people will buy their loved ones flowers on Valentine’s Day. On Friday “The Rose Shop” in Idaho Falls was busy with walk-in customers and preorders. General manager April Everett said red and pink roses are hot ticket items this year.

“A few days before it gets really, really busy but especially the day of there are lots of husbands and lots of boyfriends coming in getting roses. We have a good response on Valentine’s Day being a flower shop,” said Everett.

The National Retail Federation said more than 50 percent of Americans are planning to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a loved one.
