Man pleads guilty in Rigby murder

A man accused of murder at a quinceanera party in Rigby last summer pleaded guilty in the Jefferson County Courthouse on Thursday.

Under the plea deal, the charge against Emmanuel Jesus Granados, 23, was reduced from first- to second-degree murder for the July 14 shooting death of 22-year-old Fermin Lemus. In addition, the weapons enhancement to the charge was dropped.

Granados also is under a no-contact order with the Lemus family.

Authorities will conduct a pre-sentencing investigation, and Granados will be sentenced in April. He is facing the possibility of life in prison.
