Firefighters put out brush fire in Bonneville County

Firefighters successfully extinguished a brush fire in the Black Hawk Estates subdivision near Ammon early Saturday afternoon.

About an acre of brush burnt in the backyard of a home on South Henry Creek Road. The fire came within 40 yards of the house, according to Steve Farnsworth with the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

One of the homeowners told Local News 8 that they were attempting to burn weeds, but the fire soon got out of control. After trying to extinguish it with a hosepipe, one of their neighbors called firefighters.

By 1 p.m., firefighters had the fire under control.
