Two accidents slowed traffic along I-15 during the afternoon commute

Two accidents slowed traffic along Interstate 15 Wednesday evening in Pocatello.

Around 4pm, Idaho State Police investigated two crashes on I-15 between Clark Street and Pocatello Creek Road.

An 18 year old woman from Downey, was traveling northbound when she drove off the left shoulder of the road. Police say she over-corrected, came back on to the road, crossed three lanes and crashed into a guardrail. The driver told Police that she was “Fixing her sock” and looked away from the road.

The driver was taken by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. The crash occurred during rush hour and two lanes of traffic were closed to allow the tow truck to remove the car from the guardrail.

A second crash occurred just before 5pm when a 54 year old man of Chubbuck, failed to slow in heavy traffic, according to Police.

State Police say the driver steered to avoid a rear end collision. lost control of his car, causing the car to overturn and sideswipe another vehicle. Neither driver was injured.
