Meth, cocaine and pot seized in Bonneville County drug bust

Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were at two locations at the same time in Bonneville County for a drug bust Thursday. On Friday, they announced how much was seized in the operation.

“A large quantity of drugs was being sold in our community by those that were arrested,” the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho State Police, Bureau of Homeland Security, FBI and Immigration Customs Enforcement served two narcotic search warrants, one on the 600 block of Lomax in Idaho Falls and the other at 6000 block of North 25th East in the county.

At the Lomax house, officers found 2.5 pounds of marijuana. At the 25th East house, they found 46 grams of cocaine, 17 pounds of methamphetamine and $8,300 in cash.

The sheriff’s office said the suspects were in the area of the house on 25th East when police arrived. Ramon Meraz-Gallegos, 36, of Kennewick, Wash., had left the house and was arrested at 25th East and 49th North. Police said he was carrying a pound of meth. Alejandro Martinez-Zavala, 34, of Kennewick, ran from the house and was arrested a short time later, police said. Miguel Guiterrez-Munoz, 40, of San Jose, Calif., was arrested at the house.

All three have been charged with trafficking of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine and are being held in the Bonneville County Jail. Bond has been set for $1 million for Meraz-Gallegos, $1.5 million for Martinez-Zavala and $1.5 million for Guiterrez-Munoz.
