Cable One drops Viacom channels

Cable One has announced some big changes to its lineup.

In a statement, Cable One said as of Monday, it was forced to remove all 15 of Viacom’s channels, including Comedy Central, MTV CMT, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and VH1.

Cable One says viewing is down on 12 of Viacom’s networks, some as much as 30 percent, but Viacom was demanding an increase of more than 100 percent to carry all 15 channels. Cable One says the two were unable to negotiate just carrying the most watched channels.

The cable provider is hoping to add BBC America, the Hallmark Channel, National Geographic, Sundance and more.

Last year, Cable One briefly dropped Turner networks, including CNN, before being able to reach a deal.
