Rigby couple win $250K in lottery
A Rigby couple are $250,000 richer after winning the Idaho Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Scratch Game.
Mike and Sarah Bell bought the ticket Sunday night while driving back from a family dinner in Idaho Falls. They bought two tickets at KJ’s Travel Center on Iona Road.
“I actually scratched the ticket on the way home and got excited when I thought we’d won $25,” said Sarah in a news release from the lottery. “I kept scratching and that $25 had a lot of zeros behind it. I started shouting that we’d won $250,000. When I got home, I was so excited, well, I lost my lunch!”
Mike had to convince his parents in Boise that their win was no April Fools’ joke.
Mike works for Bonneville Industrial Supply Company, and Sarah works for Idaho Falls Group Homes. They plan to pay down some debt, perhaps buy “new to them” vehicles and invest the remainder.
For selling the winning ticket, KJ’s Travel Center gets a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $20,000. The store also sold a $5,000 top prize on the Idaho Lottery’s Rapid Refund Scratch Game to Justin Manasco of Alpine, Wyo., earlier Sunday.
One additional top prize of $250,000 in the 25th Anniversary Scratch Game remains.
