Rigby stadium seating to expand

The Jefferson County School Board in Rigby has approved a proposal to expand seating at the new Rigby High School stadium.

The expansion would cost about $150,000.Principal Dr. Yvonne Thurber said the project would expand seating by 750 seats.A berm will also be constructed to improve visitor seating.

Under the plan, the district will use excess bond funds to pay for the work. Those funds would be partially repaid over time from gate receipts generated by the expanded seating.

The board tabled a proposal to reinstate mid-day kindergarten bus runs for the 2014-15 school year. The service would cost about $110,000.Annual state reimbursements would bring the net annual cost to between $15,000 and $20,000.
