Tautphaus park zoo opens Saturday

The Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls opens Saturday with new exhibits and animals.

Zoo Superintendent Beth Rich said this year, the zoo has two new young male river otters. A ring-tailed lemur was also born in mid March. Zookeepers don’t know the gender yet, but said the lemur is healthy and clinging to its mother. The zoo has also expanded the duck and flamingo exhibits.

“The viewing has actually been lowered a little bit, and you have a better unobstructed view of the birds. It is fabulous. We also expanded our duck pond habitat and gave our ducks more access to another water course,” said Rich.

The gift shop and several walkways have also been upgraded.

The zoo opens Saturday at 9 a.m.
