1 year later, sheriffs closer to making arrests in triple killing

This month marks one year since the Oneida County triple murder resulting in the rescue of more than 40 pit bulls and an ongoing investigation.

In an interview over the phone on Sunday, Oneida County Sheriff Jeff Semrad said after more than 10,000 man-hours poured into the investigation from sheriff offices around the surrounding southeast Idaho region, they have now finally located the group of suspects.

He said the suspects are from Utah and California, possibly gang-related.

He said over this past year, they submitted more than 200 pieces of evidence to the FBI, working hard to solve this case for the two little girls left found on the doorstep of the home.

“This is an extremely complicated and complex case on any scale, so it’s going to take some time to get that evidence processed and put together,” Semrad said. “There’s hardly a day that goes by that we’re not doing something on this case and we’re working for the two little girls who were left behind. That’s who we are working for.”

Semrad also said they cannot yet release the motive for the crime.
