Idaho issues fire prevention order

The Idaho Bureau of Land Management has issued a fire prevention order for May 10 through Oct. 20. This means you’re not allowed to set off fireworks, shoot exploding ammunition or burn things on public lands.

“As we head into summer and we start seeing hotter temperatures, and, you know what, it has been dry, we need people to be aware of what they’re doing and how their actions can impact the landscape,” said Sarah Wheeler, spokeswoman for the BLM.

Meanwhile, firefighters at the Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center are gearing up for the fires with which they know they’ll have to do battle.

“We really try and think about the positions we’re in and staying safe. Safety’s always our number one priority,” said firefighter Logan Blackenship.
