Two arrested in church car burglaries

Two people were arrested in connection to nine car burglaries at a church in Bingham County.

The sheriff’s office said they and the Chubbuck Police Department arrested Jarel and Destiny McBride, both of Utah, on Thursday.

The burglaries occurred Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building on the corner of 150 West and 400 North. The windows of five of the nine cars broken into were smashed, and wallets, purses and other valuables were stolen.

Jarel McBride had a $100,000 warrant from Utah and was transported to the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office. Once formal charges are filed, he will be extradited from Utah to stand trial on the Bingham County charges, police said.

Destiny McBride was taken to the Bingham County Jail.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office said it cannot release further information at this time.
