Hurley retires as Idaho Falls High principal

After 22 years as an administrator at Idaho Falls High School, principal Randy Hurley is moving on.

Hurley says there’s no question what he’ll miss the most when he steps down later this month.

“Obviously the kids,” Hurley said. “Schools exist for kids, and that’s always been my real focus and my real passion and love, so I think I’ll miss the kids a lot — not only in school but you see them in the community and at activities and events. We are blessed in this community to have great kids so I think I’ll miss the kids the most. But I also had the opportunity to work with great colleagues. This system has so many people who serve with such commitment and they really care about the kids too, and so that association with those people on a daily basis – I’m really going to miss that.”

Hurley has no immediate plans except getting a little rest and spending lots of time with family — something he didn’t get to do much with all the long days that are part of being a high school principal.
