Moose lead to three-car accident

Moose led to a three-car accident on Interstate 15 in Bannock County late Thursday night.

Idaho State Police said Tyler Winiecke, 26, of Provo, Utah, was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra when he collided with a moose. Rebecca L. Richins, 20, of Rigby, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic LX when she collided with a different moose. Stephen M. Chamberlain, 27, of Salt Lake City, was driving a 2007 Honda Fit when he crashed into a moose carcass.

All three cars were traveling north near Inkom when the accident happened around 11:20 p.m.

Winiecke and his passenger, Sarah Winiecke, 24, of Provo, along with Richins and her passenger, Daniel B. Richins, 21, of Rigby, were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

All occupants of the cars were wearing seat belts, ISP said. One lane on both the northbound and southbound side was blocked for approximately three hours.
