Angry homeowners pack Rexburg City Council meeting

Dozens of homeowners who sustained flood damage last month spoke at Wednesday night’s Rexburg City Council meeting.

Homeowners in the Hidden Valley subdivision said flooding on July 15 occurred because of drainage ditch problems while Palmer Ricks homeowners blamed the sewage that backed up into their basements on a lift station failure.

Things got heated as homeowners alleged the city failed to properly maintain its equipment and property, leading to the damage.

City leaders have formed a task force to look into these issues.

The task force includes Mayor Richard Woodland and the Rexburg City Council, Cammie Muir and Todd Smith.

Local News 8 has learned the group will be meeting Wednesday, and should have some answers for homeowners at the next City Council meeting.
