Former GOP candidate wrongly named on campaign

Former GOP candidate for Idaho’s state superintendent Randy Jensen is not endorsing current Republican nominee Sherri Ybarra despite being listed as a campaign committee member on her website.

Ybarra’s campaign says it was a misunderstanding between the two that led to Jensen’s name being posted on her official campaign website.

Campaign spokeswoman Melinda Nothern says that Ybarra spoke to Jensen soon after the May primary election and asked for his support. Nothern says that Ybarra took Jensen’s support as an endorsement.

Ybarra’s campaign was made aware Monday that Jensen supports both Ybarra and Democratic nominee Jana Jones and wants to remain politically neutral. His name has since been removed from the website.

Jensen did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press.
