Man accused of bank robbery pleads not guilty

A man accused of robbing a Pocatello bank pleaded not guilty on Monday in 6th District Court in Pocatello.

Authorities said Ronald Allen Shumaker, 60, robbed US Bank on Yellowstone Avenue.

Shumaker was arrested in Anaconda, Montana, two days later. He was extradited back to Pocatello to face the charges and was formally booked into the Bannock County Jail on Wednesday.

He is being held on a $250,000 bond on one count of robbery. His pretrial conference is scheduled for November.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

In a separate incident, 61-year old William Reimer of Pocatello pleaded “not guilty” today just one courtroom away from Shumaker, to the March 28 robbery of another U.S. Bank in Old Town Pocatello.
