Jackson bicyclist dies after colliding with tractor-trailer

A bicyclist died after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Jackson.

The accident occurred Friday around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Millward and Pearl streets.

Police said Tuesday that the truck was traveling north through the intersection after stopping at the stop sign. Witnesses told officers that Amy Elizabeth Bennett, of Jackson and Phoenix, was also going northbound on the intersection and was on the right of the truck. She was distracted for an unknown reason, witnesses said, and she veered to the left. She hit the side of the trailer, fell underneath it and was struck by the tires.

She was transported to St. John’s Medical Center, flown to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and then the University of Utah Trauma Center.

Bennett died from her injuries Monday.

Police said investigation is ongoing, and no criminal charges have been filed. If you saw the incident and have not talked to officers, call (307) 733-1430.

“The Jackson Police Department and the Town of Jackson want to express our deepest sympathies to Bennett’s family in their time of loss,” police said.
